Bro. Justin Ledbetter has been leading Salem United Methodist church since July of 2018. Him and his wife, Rev. Susan Ledbetter, minister together in Saline County. Bro. Justin is passionate for the members of the congregation. Justin Ledbetter has been in ministry since 2001 and has held positions such as Bentonville, Batesville, and more.
His favorite past times are spending time with family, being outdoors, and developing disciples in Christ. As an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, Justin find peace and God's wonder in blessings of life.

Nursery Worker
Purpose:
To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to the children while at Salem UMC, ages 0-3 years in a clean environment.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer. Universal precautions should always be used while changing diapers or time of body fluids.
Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
Arrive 15 minutes prior to the Early Morning Service. Child care hours include every Sunday 8:45 AM to 12:15 PM. You are expected to work with another nursery worker to provide care on all Sundays even if it falls on a holiday. You will have the option to work other church events, i.e. Easter, Christmas, Vacation Bible School, etc.
Stay until the children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child’s registration form.
In the event of an emergency, notify the parent via the communication system. Cell phone/pager.
Straighten the room and clean any toys/beds before leaving. Take trash out to the dumpster before leaving. All toys that have had contact with saliva will require special attention. A sanitizing solution will be available to use in the nursery.
Attend an evaluation after a 90 day probationary period and thereafter annually.
Report to the children’s director any issues which are hindering the carry out of the duties or responsibilities.
Communicate in advance, by phone to the nursery coordinator:
any planned absences with an advance two week notice, or
any unplanned absences at least two hours prior to the shift.
Qualifications:
Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to 4 with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities.
At least 18 years of age
Satisfactory completion of background check and drug screening
Must adhere to First United Methodist Church Safe Gatherings Policy.
Three references.
Termination Policy:
There will be a 90 day probationary period where either party may terminate employment without cause. Beyond this a two week notice is expected.
Dependability is essential. Tardiness and excessive absences cannot be tolerated and will result in termination of employment.
Immediate termination will occur in cases of intentional verbal, physical, or emotional abuse or neglect of any child, parent, or church member. Termination may occur for failure to carry out job duties as described above or failure to comply with the “First United Methodist Safe Gatherings Policy”.
Music Ministry: Part-time Pianist
Part-time Pianist/Accompanist Job Description
The Salem United Methodist Church (Benton, AR) seeks a skilled pianist to join the music ministry team. The pianist/accompanist will play piano for the congregation during church services and for the choir during rehearsals. This position reports to the Music Director and is overseen by the Senior Pastor.
Salem UMC employs a part-time Music Director and Pianist. These paid staff lead our volunteer choir members. Our choirs act as liturgical leaders at weekly worship services and a variety of functions and special, seasonal services. Choir members are expected to attend regular weekly rehearsals, and participate in worship on Sunday mornings at 1100am September-May. The minimum age for membership in the chancel choir is 8th grade.
Necessary skills:
● Ability to play hymns, service music, and special music of moderate difficulty.
● Experience with and basic knowledge of church music.
● Flexibility, sight-reading, and improvisatory abilities desired.
● Ability to work collaboratively with others. Possess good communication skills.
Anticipated time commitments:
● Playing for 1100am worship service on Sundays
● Accompany choir rehearsals as needed.
● During summer months (June-Labor Day Sunday) the choir does not rehearse and sing every week, usually just once per month (TBD). Worship schedule will remain the same. Summer playing duties can be arranged between pianist and Music Director to allow for planned vacations.
● Additional time may be required for special services and church holidays, especially Christmas and Holy Week.
Responsibilities/Duties:
● Play at traditional Sunday Services (1100am) every week throughout the year.
● Responsible for selection and preparation of appropriate service music including: prelude, offertory, postlude, and music during distribution of Communion elements.
● Play as scheduled for special services, TBD.
● Play for choir practice (currently on Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:30pm).
● Play, for extra compensation to be provided by those requesting services, for weddings, funerals, memorial services, as needed.
● Arrange for acceptable substitute when unable to attend, with approval from music director.
Compensation: $100 per service / to be paid bi-weekly on the 15th and 30th of the month.
