Welcome to our EPIC Youth page, where we strive to equip our next generation to follow Christ! We offer a variety of activities to grow and deepen the relationship with each other and with Christ. Our group is lead by a great group of youth volunteers . If you have any questions, feel free to contact Lori Canada at Lori@SUMCB.org.
Check out the events for Spring 2026! Lots of great opportunities to connect with our youth members and other youth this groups from across the district and state.
Confirmation is a time where a baptized Christian confirms to live out their vows of baptism and professes to live out the vows of membership in the United Methodist Church. This can be done anytime once a person is ready to profess their faith. At Salem UMC we invite participants in EPIC Youth (6th - 12th grades) to go through Confirmation Classes in preparation to decide their next steps in their faith journey.
This year Pastor Heath and Mrs. Lori will lead the class through various lessons learning about the UMC theology along with field trips to other worship services including Catholic Mass, Jewish Shabbat, and traditional AME worship service.
Sign up now for Camp Tanako! This camp is located near Hot Springs on Lake Catherine. This camp has been a part or Arkansas UMC since 1948. Campers will grow in their faith by experiencing God through nature and time spent in community and respond to the call of the Holy Spirit. Early bird registration ends January 31. Contact Mrs. Lori for the discount code for Salem UMC families.
This is a great opportunity for students to live out what it means to serve others. Ozark Mission Project connects Arkansas neighbors with working groups to provide assistance such as yard cleanup, painting, ramp and handrail building and more. This opportunity allows for growth sprituatlly and physically as we learn new tools and skills to help others.
There are multiple ways to grow in faith with EPIC Youth. Our group meets in the Youth House, located behind the church toward the playground. Our volunteers commit to providing opportunities for our youth to grow in multiple ways.
Sunday School - Meets every Sunday at 10:30 am following worship service
Wednesday Night - Meets during the school year. 6:00 Spirit Supper served 6:30 program
Veritas - an ARUMC event to grow and develop in your faith
Ozark Mission Project - an emmersive mission week where they assist local communities across Arkansas in serving their needs.
Camp Tanako - we support our youth members to experience camp in what fits them the best.
Missions - Different options include Mission Day held each summer, serving at the Diaper Pantry, and more!
All of the volunteers working with our youth have gone through the ARUMC Safe Gatherings certification and uphold the safety of our youth to a high standard.
