Welcome to our EPIC Youth page, where we strive to equip our next generation to follow Christ! We offer a variety of activities to grow and deepen the relationship with each other and with Christ. Our group is lead by a great group of youth volunteers . If you have any questions, feel free to contact Lori Canada at Lori@SUMCB.org.
We are excited to be taking a group of our youth to Veritas again this year. This year’s Veritas theme is ‘Ardor’. Ardor, simply put, means enthusiasm, fire, and being passionate about something. During the weekend we will take a deeper dive into different Biblical stories and the ways which someone can experience Ardor in their life! In addition to worship, there are a variety of breakout sessions for students to choose from, plus a game room, and Saturday night options for more fun.
Dates will be Feb. 21-23 at the Fort Smith Convention Center. EPIC Youth will meet at the Salem UMC parking to ride the church van to Fort Smith Friday afternoon. We will return to the church Sunday afternoon. A more detailed schedule will be provided soon. We will be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott, directly across from the convention center.
Come have pancakes with the youth group! We will be serving a pancake dinner Tuesday, March 4 at 6 pm to raise funds for our youth ministry! This will help us offset costs for our families to attend impactful spiritual events and retreats.
We have two upcoming opportunities to donate your gently used books for great missions in the Arkansas UMC Conference. EPIC Youth will be taking books for the Project Transformation ministry to Veritas. The Salem Kids will be taking books to Bible Bootcamp to support a Little Rock ministry with White Memorial UMC.
This is a great time to drop off some of those books your child may have grown out of!
There are multiple ways to grow in faith with EPIC Youth. Our group meets in the Youth House, located behind the church toward the playground. Our volunteers commit to providing opportunities for our youth to grow in multiple ways.

Wednesday Nigh - Meets during the school year. 6:00 Spirit Supper served 6:30 program
Veritas - an ARUMC event to grow and develop in your faith

Camp Tanako - we support our youth members to experience camp in what fits them the best.
Missions - Different options include Mission Day held each summer, serving at Stone Soup, serving at the Diaper Pantry, and more!
All of the volunteers working with our youth have gone through the ARUMC Safe Gatherings certification and uphold the safety of our youth to a high standard.
